Body of driver found near crashed truck in rural Kamloops

The body of a man was found yesterday nearby a truck that had crashed on a rural road near Kamloops.

The truck had crashed a few days ago but was reported to police at around 1 p.m. yesterday, Nov. 9, according to an RCMP media release.

Police arrived on the scene near Heffley Creek on Tod Mountain Road where the deceased driver’s body was found. RCMP believe the driver was the only occupant.

The BC Coroners Service was also called to the scene.

“Due to the placement of the collision scene, a section of the roadway was temporarily closed during the late afternoon while police, the coroner and Kamloops Search and Rescue worked to retrieve the victim from the steep terrain,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

No criminality is suspected.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information that may be related is asked to contact the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP detachment at 250-314-1800.
