VERNON - Some Vernon boat launches are back in business.

The North Okanagan Regional District is re-opening the Paddlewheel Park boat launch effective today, July 21.

“The Regional District reminds boaters to complete their pre-launch preparation outside of the boat launch area, and be courteous to fellow launch users. Boaters are also cautioned to watch for debris in the water as a result of the recent flooding and high water levels, and reduce speeds near shorelines as water levels remain high,” the regional district says in a media release.

Meanwhile, the District of Coldstream says the Kalavista boat launch also re-opens today, although boaters are asked to avoid creating a wake to minimize shoreline and property damage.

Boaters are also reminded to keep an eye out for hazards.

“Natural debris floating in the lake continues to pose a safety concern,” the District says.

Kinloch and Westkal boat launches remain closed for repairs.
