Boater rescues truck driver who crashed into Monte Lake on Highway 97

RCMP are releasing more details after a commercial transport truck plunged into Monte Lake on Highway 97 between Vernon and Kamloops yesterday.

The accident happened around 3 p.m. yesterday, June 27, North Okanagan RCMP spokesperson Const. Chris Terleski said.

The driver of the semi appears to have had a medical emergency, he said, and a passenger in the cab and a nearby a boater rescued them.

The truck driver was transported to the hospital for assessment but the extent of his injuries are unknown, Const. Terleski said.

The investigation is in the preliminary stage and no charges have been laid, he said.
