A BC teacher who used a dating app to meet up with a student, and then lied when the school district began investigating, has been banned from teaching for life.
According to a July 25 BC Commissioner for Teacher Regulation decision, the unnamed teacher met the minor on an online dating site and didn't identify himself as a teacher.
"The Teacher developed an inappropriately close relationship with (the) student, which included exchanging photos with (the) student, meeting alone with (the) student, including in a vehicle; and discussing personal information which included discussing sexual activity," the decision read.
The teacher also paid the student to do some work for him.

In March 2019, the unnamed school district found out and suspended the teacher for an undisclosed amount of time.
"The Teacher failed to maintain appropriate boundaries with a minor, in a manner that undermined the public’s confidence in the dignity and integrity of the profession," the regulator said in the decision.
The decision said once the school district found out about what had taken place he then lied to investigators and caused others to lie on his behalf.
The teacher got their license in BC in 2013, but the decision didn't provide their identity, say where they taught or which school district they worked for.

The regulator gave no reason as to why it is keeping the public in the dark and omitted this information.
The decision said the teacher signed a consent agreement admitting to his conduct.
Ultimately, he was banned from teaching in BC for life.
