KELOWNA - A cute cat with serious injuries needs help from the public to pay for steep medical bills.

In a press release, the B.C. SPCA in Kelowna said Seven, an orange cat, was recently struck by a car and rushed to an emergency veterinarian. Seven, so named because that's the number of his nine lives he's used up, was found to have a fractured pelvis and femur, which required immediate surgery to remove one of his legs.

Seven's owner was unable to pay for his medical treatment and surrendered him to the Kelowna SPCA.

During the surgery, the veterinarian team found Seven had trouble breathing because part of his liver was pressing on his lung due to a tear in his diaphragm. He will require another surgery down the road.

The veterinarian clinic reduced some of Seven's medical costs, but the final bill is still expected to be around $4,840.

Anyone who wishes to help Seven, or other animals in need, can go to the Kelowna SPCA website here, or visit the Kelowna branch in person at 3785 Casorso Rd.
