B.C. police watchdog investigating after crash on Highway 97 near Clinton

B.C.'s. police watchdog is investigating after an off-duty RCMP officer was involved in a collision with a tow truck on Highway 97 near Clinton.

According to an Independent Investigations Office of B.C. media release, the off-duty officer and a female passenger were injured in the collision.

The police watchdog says the incident took place at about 11:20 p.m. Feb. 19, about 10 kilometres south of Clinton on Highway 97.

The off-duty officer was driving south in a black Ford SUV when it collided with a white tow truck.

"Both the driver and passenger of the Ford were injured in the collision," the release says. "The sole occupant of the tow truck was unharmed."

The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. has begun an investigation into the crash and is asking anyone with relevant information, dashcam or other video footage to call the Witness Line toll-free at 1-855-446-8477 or via the contact form here.
