KAMLOOPS — Our city is known having some of the best trail systems for both biking and hiking and the local bike riders club is hoping that will help them win $10,000 in the MEC Dirt Search.
The Kamloops Bike Riders Association is one of nine finalists in the west and plan to build a new trailhead map kiosk and parking area for the Batchelor Heights trail system in Lac du Bois. The group recently signed a partnership with B.C. Parks to protect and enhance the trails in Batchelor Heights. This work will allow the group to add more legitimate and managed trails within the city.
It is the only group from the Interior to make the cut, though four other B.C. Groups also made the final list, as did three Alberta groups and one from the Yukon. Another nine communities are vying for the east title.
You can vote through the MEC contest page once every 24 hours. The contest ends Feb. 26.
