A Kelowna child development centre is ending its autism program next month.

Starbright Children’s Development Centre announced on its Facebook page and website yesterday, Nov. 20, that its autism program will end in Kelowna next month.

“It is with an extremely heavy heart that we tell you that due to funding pressures that have escalated year by year, the autism program of Starbright Children’s Development Centre will end on December 20 of 2019,” the post reads, in part.

“Our well-trained and dedicated staff have provided services to children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and their families for many years.”

Staff and parents were notified of the cancellation yesterday.

Other Starbright programs will continue, the post states.
