People who panic purchased large quantities of things like toilet paper from Costco are in for a surprise if they try to return them.

Costco confirmed today, March 20, the store has placed a temporary no-refund policy on current high-demand items, including toilet paper, paper towel, sanitizing wipes, water, rice and Lysol.

“Due to the high demand and volume sold we are not allowing returns for these items at this time,” a store spokesperson said in an email today, March 20.

Grocery stores have been experiencing excessive demand for the items since the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus.

The company had taken steps earlier this week to limit the number of people allowed in the store at a time, as well implementing buying limits.

The panic buying of toilet paper earlier this month was illustrated by a viral video taken at a Costco in Langley.
