Costco is taking action in an effort to limit the chaos witnessed in its warehouse stores recently due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company has taken steps to limit the number of people allowed in the store at a time, according to a Costco media release.
The line at the Costco in Kelowna today, March 18, stretched outside into the parking lot with customers waiting to be let in, as the store had reached its capacity.
Costco has also asked customers to practice social distancing while shopping.
"Only every other till will be open to spread people apart. We will be having management help out on the floor to create a smooth flow of members with a nice distance from one another," a Costco employee posted in the Facebook group Kelowna Costco Groupies.
The release also states that "limits have been implemented on certain items to help ensure more members are able to access the merchandise they want and need."
Costco has also reduced certain services, and increased the frequency it cleans shopping carts, shelves, belts and registers.
