KAMLOOPS - The annual Artisan Square at St. Andrews on the Square in Kamloops is back for its 18th year this Saturday.

The Artisan Square will be held every Saturday in July and August from 8:30 a.m. until noon starting this Saturday, July 6, and will feature performers, musicians, artists, vendors and non-profits organizations. The event is organized by Mel Formanski, who is looking forward to another year.

“I’d love for everybody to come. There are local artisans, local home-based business people, and local musicians every week,” Formanski says. “It’s supposed to rain this week but I don't care, we’re on anyhow.”

She adds the event happens rain or shine, as the market is beneath large trees, and all the vendors will have tents. Each week there are between 10 and 20 vendors taking part.

Each Saturday, there will be a free table set up for a non-profit organization to accept donations and share its mission. This week, Paws for a Cause will be accepting food, toys and other donations for shelter animals. Although the specific lineup for non-profits hasn’t been set, Formanski says there is availability for non-profits to sign up.

“Weekly I get people phoning and I just fit them in, so if they'd like to have a table I can just pop them in, we’re quite flexible.”

Artisan Square will have some special furry visitors throughout the summer.

“Donkeys from Turtle Valley Refuge will be here twice a season,” Formanski says. The donkeys Bella and Eyore will be there this Saturday.

You can email info@standrewssquare.com to inquire about booking a spot or if you have questions about the weekly events.
