Arrest made in downtown Kamloops crash that killed two

The owner of the pickup truck involved in an early morning downtown Kamloops crash that killed two has been arrested.

As the RCMP investigation is in its infancy, Cpl. Jodie Shelkie said the man's involvement in the crash has yet to be determined.

Road closures downtown will remain in effect, Shelkie said, with First Avenue expected to be closed for most of the day.

There is no update on the other two occupants of the car, one of whom suffered life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP. Shelkie said police would like to speak with a woman who was on foot at the scene and left shortly after the crash occurred.
