Two people were killed and another two sent to hospital following a collision on 1st Avenue and Battle Street early Sunday.
Kamloops RCMP said that two of four occupants of the car were dead upon their arrival at 1:40 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, while the others were sent to hospital. One occupant is in life-threatening condition, while the other sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup truck left the scene before police arrived.
As police continue their investigation, 1st Avenue will be closed between Seymour Street and Nicola Street. Battle Street is also closed from 2nd Avenue to Lee Road.
"Due to the severity of this collision, our investigation could take most of the day," said Cpl. Jodi Shelkie. "We thank motorists for avoiding this area and making alternate routes."
Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has information about the pickup truck and its driver is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
