PENTICTON -- Canadian Olympians and local athletes hit the hills this weekend for the Canadian National Freestyle Event being held at Apex.

Two-time Olympic Gold medalist Alex Bilodeau will be competing, as well as fellow Olympic medalists,  Mikael Kingsbury, and Justine and Chloe Dufour-Lapointe.

“We are so excited to have these Olympic athletes come to our resort and compete [this] week,” General Manager at Apex James Shalman, said in a press release last week.

But it’s not just about the Olympians, but the local athletes who will be competing on home turf. Several registered athletes for both men’s and women’s teams are Apex or Apex alumni, while others train not too far away at Silver Star, and in Whistler, Vancouver and Pemberton.

Training runs are Thursday, Mar. 27 and Friday, Mar. 28, with the mogul competition beginning Saturday morning. The competition will wrap up Sunday with an awards ceremony in the afternoon.
