KELOWNA – The first ever Papa John’s Dreams for Kids Day raised more than $42,000 to help make dreams come true for kids with disabilities and life-threatening illnesses.
Papa John’s took over the program from Wendy’s late last year. And yesterday, April 29, five participating restaurants in Kelowna, West Kelowna, Kamloops and Prince George raised the money on the inaugural Papa John’s Dreams for Kids Day.
“April 29 was an incredible day of philanthropy,” Sunshine Foundation of Canada CEO Nancy Sutherland says. “On behalf of Sunshine’s Board of Directors, staff, volunteers and the Sunshine children whose dreams will come true because of Papa John’s Dreams for Kids Day, I offer our deepest gratitude to the Papa John’s teams in Kelowna, West Kelowna, Kamloops and Prince George.”
All funds raised go towards the next Sunshine DreamLift Kelowna and Sunshine Dreams programs. Sunshine DreamLift Kelowna takes flight on December 9, 2015.
“We are so very thankful to everyone for their support in making the first Papa John’s Dreams for Kids Day a big success” says Geoff Linquist, President of Papa John’s Pizza in B.C. “It was a fun day for our entire team. Meeting the Sunshine families who had been on a Sunshine DreamLift was definitely the high point for us.
"I would like to extend a special thank you to our Papa John’s employees who worked very hard and with generosity donated their wages for the day — we simply could not have created this day without them. We look forward to the Sunshine DreamLift in December and the return of Papa Jon’s Dreams for Kids Day next year.”
The Sunshine DreamLift is a whirlwind one-day adventure to a Disney theme park for a large group of children. Since its inception in 1987, Sunshine has fulfilled dreams for more than 7,000 children across Canada and coordinated 59 Sunshine Dreamlifts.
You can still support Sunshine DreamLift Kelowna and Sunshine Dreams by sponsoring a kilometer(s) to Disney with a tax deductible donation of $10.00 per kilometer. For more information visit this website.
