OSOYOOS - Osoyoos is experiencing a new and unique form of pet pampering with the opening of a new business in the community.

Tracy Geisler unlocked the doors of Fox and Hound Urban Pet Lounge on Main Street in Osoyoos this week fulfilling a long-time dream to open up a high end dog (and cat) daycare and spa.

“I researched the idea thoroughly, and as far as I could find out, there’s nothing like it around here, “ Geisler says.

She says her business withstood “a few hiccups” along the way to the opening stage, with the spa part of the operation delayed by about a month.

The spa wash station, with elevated platforms to make dog washing easy on the back, is ready to go, except for the plumbing. Pet owners will eventually be able to walk in off the street to wash their dogs, or have a staff member do it for them.

Geisler hopes to cater to residents and travellers alike, providing a dog and cat daycare where tourists can drop their pets off while going on wine tours, or leave them overnight if they are staying in hotels that don’t permit animals.

The former Winnipeg resident says she hopes the pet lounge and spa will provide a “one stop shop” for playing, staying, providing a social hour or a doggie-sitting service for pet owners who don’t want to leave their dogs alone while they are out.

“We’re going to try and accommodate everyone, if we can,” she says.

Once the spa is open and the business established, Geisler hopes to hire a groomer and eventually have a holistic veterinarian work out of the facility.
