The bulk of new COVID-19 cases in B.C. continue to be in the Fraser Health region but Interior Health is still posting big numbers with 157 new cases in the last 24 hours out of 749 for the entire province.

Fraser Health had 267 new cases, there were 148 in Northern Health, 113 in Vancouver Coastal and 64 on Vancouver Island, according to a news release from the Ministry of Health issued today, Sept. 30.

There were nine more deaths from COVID in the last 24 hours, including two in Interior Health, bringing the provincial total to 1,962.

There are 145 people in intensive care units in B.C. but the release does not contain numbers on active cases or hospitalizations because of the statutory holiday for the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.

The vaccination rate for those over the age of 12 has hit 88% for one dose and 81% for those having two doses.
