A missing seven-year-old Saskatchewan girl who was allegedly abducted by her father last November has been found in Vernon.

Saskatchewan RCMP say that the girl and her father, Michael Gordon Jackson, were found in a vehicle outside a Vernon business today, Feb. 24, at around noon.

RCMP Sgt. Major Darryl Milo told reporters at a press conference that the girl was safe and the father was arrested without incident.

He remains in police custody.

The seven-year-old, Sarah Jackson, will be reunited with her mother, Mariecar, later today, Sgt. Milo said.

"Mariecar has been waiting for this day, and that phone call from our investigators, since last year," Sgt. Milo said. "She would like to thank everyone who played a role in helping to locate her daughter."

In January, a Canada-wide warrant was issued for Jackson, and he was charged with one count of abduction in contravention of custody or parenting order.

RCMP released a video about the abduction, Feb. 15, and it was viewed 440,000 times.

"In the first hour after posting the second video today, the video was shared 177 times and reached over 4,500 people," Sgt. Milo said.

"While we cannot go into detail about the specific steps our officers need to take, we want to say this investigation is not over."

The father will be returned to Saskatchewan for court proceedings.
