59 new COVID-19 cases in B.C.; 19 in Interior Health

In the last 24 hours there have been 59 new COVID-19 cases detected in the province.

There were 19 new cases in the Interior Health region, according to a Health Ministry media release issued today, July 8.

Of the other new cases, 21 were in the Fraser Health region, 10 in Vancouver Coastal, seven on Vancouver Island and none the Northern Health region.

There was one more death, bringing the provincial total to 1,760.

There are 649 active cases in B.C., including 175 in the Interior Health region, with 74 people in hospital in B.C., 19 of whom are in intensive care.

There have now been 78.4 per cent of B.C. residents over the age of 12 vaccinated with 40 per cent of those being second doses.
