Another COVID-19 outbreak has been announced at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, bringing the total number up to four.
Interior Health declared a new outbreak in Unit 5 North in the hospital today, Nov. 13 with two positive patient cases. There are no positive staff cases.
Unit 5N is a 32-bed stroke and rehab unit at RIH, according to a statement from the health authority.

There are three other ongoing outbreaks in the hospital including in Unit 6S with eight cases, Unit 7N with four cases and unit 5S with 19 patient cases, seven staff and two deaths.
Unit 5S is a general medical floor, while Unit 7N is an acute general medical ward that specializes in renal and cardiac patients. Unit 6S is a surgical ward.
Interior Health communications officer Adam Wilson said the health authority does not know at this time if the outbreaks are linked and it is exploring several hypotheses.
Determining if the outbreaks are linked also involves genome sequencing of the COVID-19 virus, which can take several weeks, he said.
