205 new COVID cases in Interior Health

Of the 501 new COVID-19 cases recorded in B.C. in the last 24 hours, 205 were in the Interior Health region, according to the Ministry of Health.

There were 139 new cases in the Fraser Health region, 92 in Vancouver Coastal, 28 on Vancouver Island and 35 in the Northern Health region, the ministry said in a media release today, Aug. 17.

Two people who live outside B.C. were also infected.

One more person has died from the disease. This person was on Vancouver Island and the death brings the provincial total to 1,781.

Of the province’s 5,296 active COVID-19 cases, 3,084 are in Interior Health.

There are 111 people in hospital in B.C. with 51 of them in intensive care.

There are now 82.7 per cent of people over the age of 12 who have received one dose of the COVID vaccine with 73.5 per cent having received their second dose.
