"The primary increase in remuneration is a result of the changes in activity level due to easing restrictions from the COVID-19 pandemic," the report to council reads. "In 2021, recreation and Kamloops Fire Rescue operations began to expand compared to service levels in 2020, which resulted in increased labour costs in 2021."

The top earner was chief administrative officer David Trawin at $300,171 after benefits. That's up $7,000 from 2020.

The next was protective services director Byron McCorkell at $247,197, then corporate services director Jen Fretz at $217,635.

All local governments have until the end of June to list employees who earned $75,000 or more during the previous year.
