    For the past seven years on the last Saturday of April, ten percent of the homes in Naramata have hosted yard sales. Besides the 60 residential sales, many community groups find ways to benefit.

    Kamloops, BC – The City of Kamloops and the Government of Canada are nearing the end of year four of the five-year Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS) funding agreement. Between 2014 and 2019, over $3 million will have been distributed to the City for initiatives aimed at preventing and reducing homelessness by providing direct support and funding to the community.

    Kamloops, BC – The 9th annual Heap the Honda Children’s Book Drive, sponsored by Kamloops Honda in partnership with Literacy in Kamloops (LinK), takes place January 6-27, 2018. The goals of this project are to increase book ownership in all homes and to encourage a love of reading. Over the past eight years, more than 80,000 children’s books have been given away.
  • 2018 Swan & Eagle Count – Sunday, January 14

    The Swan and Eagle Count is a citizen science program that occurs mid-January each year. The North Okanagan Naturalists’ Club contributes to the tally of Swans and Eagles annually. The count monitors the current population status of these birds in southern interior British Columbia. The count is in its 38th year for Swans and 24th year for Eagles.

    The Armstrong Lions Club set its sights high when its members committed to raising more than $100,000 to fund a new Argon Laser for the Lions Vision Centre in Armstrong.

    “We realized it was a huge job and we maybe should have some help,” said Sandy McMurray Lions Club Zone Chair, speaking to local community groups at the Lions Vision Centre yesterday.
