Young hikers rescued from cliff on Mount Boucherie

A specialized rescue team were called in to help two young hikers off Mt. Boucherie Friday evening.

WEST KELOWNA - Two young men were forced to call 9-1-1 and had to be rescued from the edge of a cliff on Mt. Boucherie Friday evening.

West Kelowna Assistant Fire Chief Chad Gartrell says the hikers made the right decision to call for help after one of them slipped and became too scared to attempt climbing out on their own.

A team of eight rescuers from West Kelowna were able to reach the area above the boys and rappel down. Outfitted with harnesses, the young men were pulled up and escorted down the mountain at around 6 p.m.

The names and ages of the two young men have not been released.
