YLW emergency crews standby for plane with suspected hydraulic problems

KELOWNA - The pilot of a private plane might have been a bit nervous landing this morning at the Kelowna International Airport because of a suspected hydraulic leak.

The pilot told the YLW tower of the potential problem and the airport immediately called Aircraft Rescue Firefighters, Kelowna Fire Department, B.C. Ambulance and RCMP to standby on scene while the plane approached. The aircraft had three people on board.

The plane landed safely at 9:36 a.m. without incident.

YLW emergency crews then conducted a routine check of the runway for any debris or foreign objects while the plane taxied to a hanger for a mechanical review. No commercial flights were affected.
