Four weeks after 16-year-old Hazelton girl CJ Fowler was found murdered in Guerin Creek, Kamloops RCMP are seeking a potential male witness who was smoking in the area at about 7 a.m. the morning her body was discovered.

"We need them to come forward," said RCMP Const. Bernie Ward.

RCMP have spoken with residents in the area and are looking for a man who was believed to be smoking in front of the 580 area of Dalgleish Dr. at about 7 a.m. Ward said people often don't realize how the most minute details may help an investigation.

Kamloops RCMP have been working with Terrace and Prince George RCMP detachments, investigating the events that led to Fowler's death after she traveled to Kamloops for a few days with a male companion.

They have identified the timeline leading to her death between the hours of 2:50 a.m. and 6 a.m., Dec. 5.

She was seen leaving Kamloops Royal Inland Hospital around 3 a.m. They also believe Fowler may have been travelling to the Sahali Greyhound Station, where she had a bus ticket to go home, before she was killed.

A surveillance video from the hospital shows Fowler in a hospital hallway wearing blue jeans and a green jacket over a pink hood and another jacket appearing to be black and grey plaid.

"Progress is being made," Ward said.

Anyone with information about the potential witness and or who may have been in the Guerin Creek area between the hours of 2 a.m. and 11 a.m. are asked to contact RCMP at 250-828-3000.
