Winter weather causing disruptions at Penticton Regional Airport

Severe winter weather has been disrupting flights in and out of Penticton Regional airport yesterday and today.

PENTICTON - The South Okanagan’s latest onslaught of winter weather is affecting air travel in and out of Penticton Regional Airport.

Debra Williams, Corporate Communications officer for Jazz Aviation LP reported Monday morning flight operations in Penticton were being impacted by weather.

Air Canada Express (Jazz) flights to and from Penticton were cancelled Sunday due to weather and the first round-trip for Tuesday was also cancelled,” she said in an email.

Williams advised customers to note the Air Canada travel alerts page at Air Canada's daily travel outlook web page.

“As with all weather events, customers are asked to check the status of their flight on Air Canada’s website or call Air Canada’s flight information system at 1-888-422-7533,” she wrote.

Brie Thorsteinson, Media Relations Advisor for WestJet reported due to the specific landing limits the company has with respect to Penticton Regional Airport, WestJet flights would not be operating out of Penticton today. There will be an additional flight tomorrow, Thorsteinson said, as the Penticton - Calgary flight scheduled for 2:10 p.m. Tuesday will be followed by an additional flight to Calgary at 3:10 p.m. on Tues., Jan. 6.
