Weekend before Halloween filled with terrifying events in Kamloops, Okanagan

You won't have to wait until Halloween to find creepy creatures, scares and costumes this coming weekend as there are numerous spooky indoor and outdoor events for all ages to choose from, and here a just a few. 

The basement of the historic Okanagan Falls Hotel is ready for thrill seekers to wander through it while being frightened by actors dressed as swamp people, ghosts, clowns and other creepy creatures.

The Haunted Hotel is offering both family friendly basement tours as well as scary ones, and smores, hot chocolate and goodie bags will be available for kids.

Entry to the event is by donation with all proceeds going to the Okanagan Falls Fire Department.

Located at 1045 Main Street, The Haunted House runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a family friendly theme and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a scary theme from Oct.25 to Nov. 1.

A series of short scary films are airing at Kelowna’s 15th annual Horror Film Festival hosted by The Okanagan Society of Independent Filmmaking.

The collection of horror films were produced by some of the Okanagan’s best filmmakers.

Viewers are encouraged to dress in costumes for the event, and food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Located at Kelowna Film Studios at 1516 Keehn Road, the doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the films start at 7:30 p.m. and run until 11 p.m. on Oct. 27. Go here to get your tickets.

The Walk of Terror Spectacular performance in Armstrong is for all ages where everyone can walk through the forests of Caravan Farm Theatre eventually arriving at the Timber Barn for a barn dance and live music.

The fifty-acre outdoor space will feature community performers from fire spinners to stilt walkers to circus performers and much more. Participants are encouraged to arrive wearing costumes.

Food trucks and a bar will be onsite serving alcoholic beverages and hot drinks.

Located at Caravan Farm Theatre at 4886 Salmon River Road, the gates for the Walk of Terror open at 6 p.m. and the walk runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28. A costume promenade starts at 9 p.m. with the winners being announced at 9:30 p.m. Go here to get tickets.

A Gaming group at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops is hosting the Chill to Thrill: Horror Movie Marathon.

“This spine-chilling event will leave you trembling with fear as we showcase a selection of the scariest horror flicks of all time,” the events post reads. Participants are invited to grab some popcorn and get comfy to watch three movies that are tentatively going to be Ghostbusters, Anamatronics and The Shining followed by Texas Chainsaw Massacre at the Cineplex Theatre at midnight.

Located at the Clock Tower on the Thompson Rivers University campus at 860 McGill Road, the first movie showing in the Horror Movie Marathon starts at 5 p.m. Go here for tickets and more information.
