KELOWNA – A Kelowna man was arrested at his home this week after he was allegedly caught on camera using a stolen credit card.

Patrick Casey, 39, has been charged with two counts of fraud under $5,000, two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card and one count of possession of property obtained by crime, police say.

He was arrested after a two month investigation that started November 22 when police received a report of a theft from a vehicle in the 1400 block of Flemish Street, according to a RCMP media release.

“The victim of the theft quickly learned that the TAP feature of his stolen credit card had been used twice before additional attempted transactions were declined by his financial institution,” Const. Jesse O’Donaghey says in the release. “The police investigation revealed that the alleged suspect was successful in purchasing $150 in prepaid credit cards, among other items like life savers, a creamsicle and a yogurt drink.”

Both stores provided police with surveillance footage and Jan. 1 a tip from the public led police to the suspect’s home in Glenmore.
