KAMLOOPS – A 39-year-old man assaulted by a group of five men with baseball bats was one of two men arrested following the early morning assault in Valleyview.
Kamloops RCMP say a report of the beating came in at 1:35 a.m. and several officers responded to a hotel in the 1800 block of Trans Canada Highway.
The suspects left in a vehicle before police arrived and an investigation determined the victim, who suffered only minor injuries, had assaulted his girlfriend and was breaching conditions not to be in contact with her. He was arrested and will face assault and breach charges in court Thursday.
The victim was uncooperative with the investigation but officers were able to locate one of the suspects, a 26-year-old male, who was arrested and will face assault with a weapon charge in court Thursday.
The investigation continues as police attempt to identify the other people involved in the assault and police believe the two events are linked and everyone involved knows each other. Both men are being held in police custody.
