Jan Hooks, a veteran member of the ”Saturday Night Live” cast from 1986 to '91, has died at the age of 57.
Her father said she had been battling a serious illness, but gave no details.
On SNL, Hooks worked with some of the show's biggest names, including Chris Farley, Phil Hartman and Dana Carvey.
During her time on the program, Hooks was best known for being one half of the singing Sweeney Sisters with Nora Dunn.
Hooks also portrayed Sinead O'Connor, Hillary Clinton, Tammy Faye Bakker, Kathie Lee Gifford, Diane Sawyer and more.
After SNL, Hooks joined the cast of "Designing Women," for the show's final two seasons.
Her movie work included ”Pee Wee's Big Adventure” and 1992's ”Batman Returns.”
Hooks’ most recent TV role was on "30 Rock," in 2010, playing Verna, mother of Jane Krakiwski's character Jenna Maroney.
