VERNON - The boy who died in a crash on Highway 97 near Crystal Waters Road May 4 has been identified.

He was Rodney Michael Boring, 14, of Vernon.

Boring was the passenger in a Pontiac Sunfire involved in a collision with a full-sized pickup truck at about 3:45 p.m. Sunday. He died at the scene of the accident. The 17-year-old driver of the Pontiac was airlifted to KGH with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup, a 25-year-old woman from Lumby also suffered serious injuries but non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger of the pickup escaped with only minor injuries.

Boring's family has been notified of his death and a Facebook page in his memory was created Monday night. It describes him as "one of the kindest, most considerate young men one could meet."

The B.C. Coroners Service continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Police have said speed and alcohol are not considered factors at this point.
