Vernon RCMP launch homicide investigation into woman's death

A police presence could be seen at an apartment complex located at 7343 Okanagan Landing Rd. in Vernon.

VERNON - A homicide investigation is underway after the death of a woman in Vernon last night.

Shortly after 11 p.m. on June 20, Vernon RCMP responded to a report of an assault at an apartment unit in the 7300 block of Okanagan Landing Road in Vernon, Sgt. Annie Linteau says in a media release.

“Upon attendance, police located an injured woman who was subsequently transported to local hospital. The 49-year-old woman has since succumbed to her injuries and her death is being considered a homicide,” Linteau says.

A 21-year-old man was arrested at the residence in connection with the incident.

The victim and suspect were known to each other, Linteau says.

The scene has been cordoned off and the investigation continues.

No further information has been released by RCMP.
