VERNON - A Vernon man will be treating his friends to dinner after becoming the Okanagan’s latest millionaire.

Robert Jaeger won the $5-million Lotto 6/49 jackpot in the April 9, 2016 draw, B.C. Lottery Corporation says in a release.

Jaeger’s win came a day after the $50-million Lotto Max jackpot was won in Kelowna by June Bergh and a few weeks after Kelowna resident Robert Goertzen won the $21.9-million Lotto 6/49 jackpot.

As for Jaeger, he hasn’t stopped smiling since discovering he is $5 million richer.

“Everyone has been so happy and excited for me,” he says. “I have really felt like the talk of the town.”

Jaeger says he was so excited about the win he was only able to sleep for two hours the night before claiming his big prize. But that won’t stop him from celebrating.

“I’m planning on treating 20 of my closest friends to dinner – of course it’s on me,” he says.

Jaeger plans to share some of his winnings with family and bank the rest for now.

The winning ticket was purchased at Kirby’s Kiosk on Highway 6 in Vernon.
