VERNON – RCMP are on the hunt for a knife-wielding suspect after the clerk at a Vernon liquor store was held-up last night.

Police says a man with a knife walked into Toro’s Cold Beer and Wine store on Kalamalka Lake Road at approximately 9:51 p.m. yesterday, Nov. 24, and demanded cash from the clerk. He then chased the lone employee out of the store.

The suspect got away on foot empty handed, according to an RCMP media release.

No customers were in the store at the time of the armed robbery and the employee wasn’t injured.

“Further investigation has revealed the suspect male matches the description of numerous other armed robberies throughout the Okanagan area dating back to September 2017,” RCMP spokesperson Const. Kelly Brett says in the media release.

RCMP describe the suspect as a Caucasian man in his early 40s, 5’9” tall and roughly 165 lbs. with a fair complexion. He was wearing jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt with a black scarf covering his face.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171. Or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or leaving a tip online at www.nokscrimestoppers.com.
