Van hits Kamloops apartment building, driver flees

KAMLOOPS - A North Shore apartment building was damaged after a van struck the building last night.

Residents at the Chateau Gardens apartment building at 111 Knox St. reported hearing something like an explosion just after 7:30 p.m. yesterday, March 8, and the building was evacuated.

According to an RCMP release it was discovered the sound was caused by a white full-sized van hitting the building. The collision caused damage to the underground parking garage, the interior of the building and a vehicle parking in the parking lot.

No one was injured but the driver responsible for the damage did flee the scene.

The white van was damaged on the front end and scraped on the roof.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
