Valleyview Dominos closed after car hits building; gas meter

KAMLOOPS - Pizzas might be a little late in east Kamloops this evening after a car hit the Valleyview Dominos.

Emergency crews attended a scene late this afternoon, July 5, at 1900 E Trans Canada Highway after a Pontiac Vibe hit the back of the pizza shop. The driver, a middle aged woman, also hit the building’s gas meter. Kamloops Fire Rescue attended the scene and turned off the building’s gas while ambulance attended to the driver fire rescue Capt. Wade Lindoff says.

“Witnesses say that it appeared the car lost control and clipped the building,” he says.

It was a single vehicle accident, at the entrance to the parking building’s parking lot. A Starbucks and Kleo's Pharmacy Remedy's Rx share the building.

“There was an off-duty firefighter on scene who had already initiated evacuation,” he says. “The driver walked away from it.”

While the accident did rupture the line going to the gas meter, Lindoff says the main valve has been shut off and leaking gas isn’t a concern.
