PENTICTON - Valley First was announced as title sponsor for the Penmar Community Theatre this morning during a groundbreaking ceremony, marking the start of construction for the theatre’s additions.

The Penmar Community Arts Society has named the new theatre Valley First Community Arts Centre after the title sponsor.

This is the second major sponsorship in the last few weeks for Valley First, which was also named title sponsor for Challenge Penticton.

The addition to Penmar Theatre will be done in two phases, beginning with the construction of the side stage and green room, and renovations of the current lobby. The project is estimated to be completed in February 2015.

The Society also announced its new General Manager, Iain MacIntyre, a long-time Penticton resident.

MacIntyre will lead the overall operations of the Valley First Community Arts Centre, including day-to-day facility operations, community engagement, supervision of staff, fundraising and budget management.

“It is great to welcome Iain as the lead of our team,” said Society President Jim Morrison. “We have a tremendous vision and we are only just putting the foundation in place. With Iain on board as general manager looking after day-to-day operations, the Society can focus on putting its growth plan into action.”
