Traveller numbers continue to climb in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS - The number of passengers to go through the gates at Fulton Field last month is keeping the airport on pace for a record year.

In October 2015 more than 26,700 travellers came through the Kamloops Airport, up five per cent over October 2014.

The jump is the lowest since April 2015 but keeps the airport on pace to beat the total number of passengers that came through the gates in 2014, nearly 312,900. With two months left in the year more than 265,000 travellers have used the Kamloops Airport, up 2.7 per cent over 2014, which was a record year for the local airport. Last year nearly 55,000 people came through the gates in November and December.

Managing Director Fred Legace attributes the continued growth to the lower Canadian dollar and notes all routes in and out of the city are performing well.

Total aircraft movements were also up in November with new air cargo flights operating for package delivery companies.
