SUMMERLAND -  A fire yesterday evening caused extensive damage to an office, vehicle and camper at a Summerland nursery.

Last night, Nov. 12, at approximately 7 p.m., firefighters received multiple calls of a structure fire the MBC Nursery at 8333 McLachlan St.

According to Assistant Fire Chief George Pugh, a modular home was fully involved on the south side and west end when crews arrived.

"An adjacent vehicle and camper were also consumed by flame. We extinguished the fire and it didn't spread, but the vehicle and camper were not salvageable," Pugh says.

Sixteen firefighters and two engines responded to the call. Crews were able to contain the fire and no surrounding structures were affected. Pugh says the modular home was used as an office for MBC Nursery.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
