KELOWNA – Ryan James Quigley admitted in court today, Oct. 19, that he killed his girlfriend at the Hiawatha Trailer Park in Kelowna two years ago.

The body of Aimee Parkes was found in the mobile home they shared on April 1, 2014 with 26 stab wounds across her body.

Quigley, 36, was arrested and originally pleaded not guilty to second degree murder and his lawyer sought a charge of manslaughter instead. Crown initially rejected the change and the trial has been ongoing for several weeks.

On Wednesday, Oct. 19 a surprise joint submission was entered in Kelowna Supreme Court that included a guilty plea to manslaughter.

He will be sentenced Friday, Oct. 21.
