PENTICTON - Local fans of the British television show Top Gear will be happy to know the series will be shooting highway footage in the South Okanagan and Boundary regions for the popular show.
Filming begins in the latter part of November, according to a media release from the Okanagan Film Commission. The group in the shoot will be driving a Hennessey VolociRaptor SUV.
“This is awesome for the region as the show has such a huge worldwide audience, it is great exposure for our area and for producers to see the kind of scenery and locations we offer,” film commissioner Jon Summerland says.
Top Gear first aired in 1977 and changed to their current quirky format in a re-launch in 2002. It's hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May and has featured at least three different test drivers know as The Stig.
The program draws an estimated 350 million viewers each week and is shown in 170 countries.
