Tips for travellers flying out of Kamloops during the holidays

KAMLOOPS - The Kamloops Airport has some tips for holiday travellers.

While some tips are fairly common sense, others might even save seasoned, seasonal travellers some hassle at the airport.

With the gift-giving season here, many people will be travelling with presents, which is fine, but if the gift is wrapped, it should go in checked luggage, according to a Kamloops Airport media release. Travellers with wrapped gifts in carry-on luggage may be asked to unwrap the present early and in front of airport security.

For people travelling with pets it’s important to be aware of the airlines’ holiday pet policies. Some airlines change their policy for pets in carry-on luggage during the holidays, so it’s best to confirm where in a plane a small pet is allowed to fly.

While the point of travel by plane is to leave the car behind, it’s important to make sure there’s a plan for where it’s being left. The airport parking lot can be busy, and spots may be hard to find.

In addition to that, arriving early for a flight this time of year is always a good idea. Airlines have minimum requirements, but arriving earlier will mean more time to solve any problems that do arise.

And remember, airlines can refuse passage if someone is intoxicated and a hazard to others on the plane.
