PENTICTON - Some days, it just doesn’t pay to get out of bed.

A Penticton woman probably felt that way yesterday after a driving incident that couldn’t have happened at a more inopportune time.

Penticton RCMP say a woman attempting to park her Chevrolet pickup in the parking lot of Guerard’s Fine Furniture ran into some difficulties yesterday, Feb. 22.

Instead of hitting the brakes, the woman hit the accelerator, plowing through a chainlink fence, slamming into a car and then sideswiping a second vehicle. The vehicle then careened through the parking lot, across the street and on to a concrete barricade, which left the vehicle high-centred. The vehicle then stalled.

Turns out, the woman was in the process of parking prior to taking her doctor’s appointment for her driver’s medical exam.

It’s not known whether she passed her exam or not.
