KAMLOOPS - People heading to Canada Day celebrations around Kamloops can do so safely and conveniently, thanks to special service offered by Kamloops Transit.

On Friday, July 1, all rides will be free for the entire service day. Saturday service will be in effect, with additional service until 9:30 p.m. on the 16 Juniper Ridge and extra service leaving downtown at 11:30 p.m. on the following routes:

1 Tranquille
2 Parkcrest
3 Westsyde
4 Pacific Way / 5 Pineview
7 Aberdeen
9 Gleneagles
16 Juniper Ridge / 17 Dallas

“Canada Day festivities in Kamloops are not to be missed! Providing free transit on Canada Day ensures that everyone has a chance to take part in the activities at Riverside Park,” Kamloops Mayor Peter Milobar. said “Extending the service until 11:30 p.m. allows everyone to take in the fireworks show!”

Beginning Sunday, June 26, service will be reduced along some routes, anticipating lower demand during the summer. This will apply, in particular to routes that serve Thompson Rivers University:

1 Tranquille
2 Parkcrest
3 Westsyde
4 Pacific Way
7 Aberdeen
9 Gleneagles
10 North Shore TRU Express

Other routes will see minor changes in service. Full service resumes on Sept. 4.

For full information on service plans, please call Kamloops Transit at 250-376-1216 (Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.) or visit www.bctransit.com/kamloops.
