KAMLOOPS - The city’s downtown might seem a bit busier this week as the Downtown Merchant’s Market takes over Victoria Street.
The event starts tomorrow, July 20 and runs through to Sunday, July 24 with different events each day, including live music.
Of particular note is Car Free Day, on Saturday, July 23. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. the 200- and 300-blocks of Victoria Street will be cordoned off to create a pedestrian area for shopping and street activities, including life size versions of games like Jenga and Kerplunk, a dunk tank and a battle of the bands.
The Taste of Downtown is set for two blocks of time on Thursday, July 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and again between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. The food sampling event helps finance the Kamloops Foodbank Fund. Participants this year range from chains like Subway, McDonalds and Denny’s to locals Red Collar Brewing, Mittz Kitchen and Pizza Pi.
Run by the Kamloops Central Business Improvement Area, the event aims to highlight what’s available in downtown Kamloops.
