KAMLOOPS - A stolen boat has been returned to its owner after police tracked it down on the South Thompson River.

Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says a zodiac-style boat was stolen on Aug. 12 and yesterday, Aug. 17, a friend of the owner spotted the boat on the river near Pioneer Park around 4 p.m.

Police were called and sent out their boat. Around 7:10 p.m. they located the vessel with two people on board. The two occupants, a 36-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman, were arrested for possession of stolen property.

Both had outstanding warrants, also for possession of stolen property, and are currently in police custody due to make a court appearance today. Neither have fixed addresses, Shelkie says.

The boat has been returned to the owner.
