Stabbing in Westsyde brings RCMP to the scene

KAMLOOPS - A man is in stable condition and recovering at Royal Inland Hospital today after he was stabbed in the chest early this morning, July 23.

Kamloops RCMP were called to the Westsyde neighbourhood at 2 a.m., according to a press release issued by Sgt. Brandon Buliziuk.

When police arrived at the scene they found a 20-year-old man suffering from an apparent stab wound to the chest. He was transported to Royal Inland Hospital to receive treatment for his injuries. The investigation led the RCMP to a residence where officers found a woman with a knife.

The police have a 19-year-old Kamloops woman in custody and aggravated assault charges have been recommended.

The investigation is still ongoing and there are no perceived risks to public safety.

Police did not release the names of the victim or the woman in custody.
