Spring Breaking in Kamloops

Kamloops is buzzing with Spring Break activities for all ages, check out the BC Wildlife Park, the Art Gallery or the museum for some vacation excitement.

KAMLOOPS — Spring Break is hitting Kamloops and while it might not be warm enough to bust out the bikinis, there is certainly some fun to be had.

Whether you're looking for an educational experience for the kids or just some quality entertainment for the family Kamloops has it all.

Families can head to the B.C. Wildlife Park any time throughout the spring break week for some eye-opening fun.

The park will be hosting several animal encounters events, where children and parents can meet some of the animals up close. The birds of prey event runs daily at 11 a.m., followed by wolf feeding at 12 p.m. and elk feeding at 2:30 p.m.

If you are looking for something a little more fantastical then the Fantasy and Fun-To-See event is the place for you. With a new theme every day, there is sure to be something to catch your interest.

The event is held at the Canada Games Pool, where there will be a full schedule of activities taking place between 6 and 9 p.m. each day.

Activities designed for children under the age of six will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., while face painting, crafts, and even a little magic will be available for older kids until 4 p.m. Nightly family movies play from 6 to 9 p.m.

If you are looking for something a little more electrifying, Kamloops kids can head over to The BIG Little Science Centre as they host Static Electricity exhibits daily. If that's not enough entertainment, the centre will host a Super Static Show at 11 a.m. and again at 1:30 p.m.

Kamloops kids between the ages of eight and 12 can be a fur trader, explorer, geologist, or even a curator for the day at the Kamloops museum. Children will be able to dig up some artifacts, create a death mask, and unearth some minerals throughout the adventurous days. This event is an excellent chance to learn about local history, play some games, and join the museum for some unique activities each day from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

With an entire list of adult-friendly activities happening throughout the week as well, it would just be a shame to let the kids have all the fun.

Adults can head to the Dirty Jersey on March 21 to take in the comedic ramblings of Casey Corbin. The event kicks off at 8 p.m. and will feature the comedy veteran who has appeared on the Comedy Network, MuchMusic, as well as in events such as the Halifax Comedy Tour.

If you would rather sip some wine than dine on wings, head to the seventh annual Wine Soiree at Hoodoos running from 6:30 to 9 p.m., March 21.

Those with a bit of an artistic flare are encouraged to check out the Picasso's Beasts exhibit at the Kamloops Art Gallery. These amazing pieces have been selected from the National Gallery of Canada and be running in conjunction with the Beautiful Monsters exhibit.  A key selection of Pablo Picasso’s most celebrated series of etchings from the Vollard Suite will be available for all to see.
