Speed not a factor as dump truck overturns

KELOWNA - An overturned dump truck snaggled traffic on Butt Road about 1:30 p.m. today, but it appears the road will be clear soon.

Kelowna RCMP Cpl. Brian Harris told Infotel News the truck was travelling through the roundabout at Louie Drive when the load shifted causing the truck to flip on its side. He added speed was not a factor in the accident.

While there appears to be a small fuel spill at the scene, the load the truck was carrying was locked down and remains inside the truck.

The accident was attended by RCMP, Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement, and the West Kelowna Fire Rescue. A tow truck is on scene.
